Interior: A Modern and Detailed Design for the Volkswagen ID.4

Volkswagen's first fully-electric SUV, the ID.4, boasts a modern and airy interior design that showcases meticulous attention to detail. The innovation begins right in front of the driver, where a traditional instrument cluster is replaced by an innovative digital display. The 5.3-inch ID.Cockpit is cleverly attached to the steering column, ensuring it is always optimally positioned in the driver's line of sight. The traditional gearshift is also replaced by a large rocker switch on the right side, adding a touch of modernity. The dash panel appears to float, as it is not connected to the center console. Its front section gracefully drops down towards the interior in steps, separated by decorative trim, creating an eye-catching visual effect. The ID.Cockpit provides essential information such as state of charge, range, navigation details (when using the native navigation and Apple Maps), and driving data.

Improved Center Console and Spaciousness

Running between the front seats is an improved and spacious center console specifically designed for the North American market. The front portion of the console features two large cupholders, while the rear compartment is equipped with an illuminated wireless charging pad for compatible mobile phones and two USB-C ports. Additionally, two more USB-C charging ports are conveniently located on the backside for rear-seat passengers. The armrests have been seamlessly integrated into the console, and beneath them lies a generously-sized storage area.

Volkswagen ID.4 Glass Roof

Enhanced Ambiance and Panoramic Fixed-Glass Roof

For an even more captivating interior atmosphere, the ID.4 offers an optional panoramic fixed-glass roof that stretches across almost the entire surface of the roof. This design element allows natural light to flood the cabin, reinforcing the feeling of spaciousness. On sunny days, an electric sunshade can be controlled either via a touch slider above the driver or through the infotainment screen, helping to prevent the interior from heating up.

Premium Interior Quality and Trims

The interior quality of the ID.4 leaves a lasting impression, with a soft foam skin about a quarter of an inch thick covering the top section of the dash panel and door inserts. The ID.4 Standard, Pro, and AWD Pro models have been upgraded with new "Nutmeg" and "Stone" interior treatments. These trims feature door inserts covered in a new mélange fabric made from 20 percent recycled fibers, enhancing sustainability. The same fabric also adorns the seating surfaces, while the bolsters are finished in either brown or black leatherette, elevating the entry-level trim for the 2023 model year.

For the ID.4 S, Pro S, and AWD Pro S models, new "Cosmic" and "Galaxy" interior treatments introduce fresh color palettes for a premium interior experience. The Galaxy variant features a black HMI (Human Machine Interface), including the steering wheel, steering column, and the housings for the display and control panels in the doors. Black leatherette seat inserts are paired with Platinum Grey bolsters, dashboard, and door inserts. On the other hand, the Cosmic finish offers a white HMI paired with gray leatherette seat inserts and Blue leatherette bolsters, dashboard, and door inserts. These trims also feature enhanced stitching on the door panels, while the perforated leatherette seating surfaces provide added comfort with a stylish hexagonal pattern.
