The Volkswagen Group is working towards a more sustainable future in electric vehicle production, sales, operations, and EV battery recycling. To this end, Volkswagen is working on multiple initiatives to help ensure EV batteries can be recycled for a number of uses after powering a vehicle for a decade or more. Beyond VW's concepts for home power storage and portable EV charging, Volkswagen has established a dedicated battery recycling plan and research center in Salzgitter, Germany. In the long term, the Volkswagen Group has set itself a very ambitious goal: to recycle 97 percent of all raw materials in the battery packs.
